The Event of Advent: our very first First Thursday Drinkswill take place at the Green Linnet in December...
and thereafter become the tradition. Thursday is the new Wednesday!
The occasion should be festive as we expect it to draw the curious - those wishing to discover a pub they may not have had a chance to visit - as well as help us begin to get into the Christmas holiday spirit. Reputed to have the most authentic Guinness in Paris, the Green Linnet extends it offering beyond ale and stout to exotic drinks such as... wine, for those who prefer the Gallic tradition.

Our next quarterly dinner will be at 8 p.m. on Wednesday 16 December at
This is the restaurant where we held the Jean Malaurie dinner last year, which was much appreciated. We can again expect an excellent meal with “aperitif/canapés” and wine for €47 per person. Places are limited so book early.
Our speaker this time will be Bill Barry (Merton) who has served as NASA’s 11th European Representative since September 2007. Until his selection for this position, Bill served for six years at NASA Headquarters as a Senior International Programs Specialist and leader of the Russia Team in the Office of External Relations. He joined NASA in 2001 after retiring from a 22 year career in the United States Air Force. A graduate, with honors, of the USAF Academy (1979), he also holds a Masters Degree from Stanford (1987) and a Doctorate from Oxford (1996).
He has chosen as his topic:
‘NASA at 50. What’s next?’
To some of us it seems not so long ago that we first heard of NASA, and yet, on further reflection, it is amazing how much has been done in so short a period. Given his widespread experience of the world of space and aeronautics, we look to Bill to enlighten us on what more achievements the future has in store for us.
